Annette Funicello, original Mouseketeer, has died from complications of multiple sclerosis. In 1992, the same year she was declared a Disney Legend in the Film & Television category, Funicello announced that she had the disease. Funicello joined the Mickey Mouse Club at age 12, and then went on to have a successful career as a singer and actress. She was married to Jack Gilardi from 1965 to 1981; they had three children. In 1986, she married Glen Holt. Her family was with her when she was taken off life support; because of her disease, she has not been able to walk since 2004 and has not been able to speak since 2009. Funicello was 70 years old and had been hospitalized at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, California.
