Ticket price increase at SeaWorld Orlando

Even though their prices just went up four months ago, SeaWorld Orlando is raising ticket prices again. A single-day ticket to SeaWorld will now cost $89, the same price that Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando are charging; their prices were raised this summer. $89 equates to a 4.7 percent increase ($4.01) compared to the previous cost of a SeaWorld ticket.

The biggest jump SeaWorld fans will see is on the annual passes. A basic annual pass is going up 25 percent, up to $119.99 from $89.98.

Other increases include a 10 percent increase to $55 at Aquatica, and a three percent increase to $139 on a two-park combo ticket that includes admission to SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Tampa.

Speculation is that these increases are in preparation for the opening of the park’s new exhibit, "Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin," which officials are calling "the largest expansion in the marine park's history."

Raising prices before a big opening is common in the theme park industry; the same happened before Universal opened The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Disneyland opened Cars Land.
