In the two and a half years since The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been open at Universal Orlando, five million Butterbeers have been sold. To commemorate the occasion, one thousand servings of the drink were given away to park guests. Butterbeer originated in the Harry Potter books and guests were thrilled to experience it in real life at the theme park. With a flavor similar to butterscotch, Butterbeer is available cold or frozen and is for sale at four different locations.

Ric Florell, senior vice president of resort revenue operations, oversaw the creation of the drink. "We created an authentic taste experience for our guests to complement all of the other immersive experiences The Wizarding World of Harry Potter would offer them. We knew we had created something that tasted great and would be popular - but we have been surprised by just how popular."
