A Virginia woman who joked about a bomb while in the security line at Universal Studios spent the night in jail because of her remarks. On the evening of January 15, 45-year-old Sherry Romello was in the security bag check line to enter Universal Studios and according to reports, closed her purse before the officer could examine it. Allegedly, she then told the guard, "There's a bomb in my bag," and smiled. Security officers called the Orange County police, who arrested her and set a $10,000 bail.

Romello says she has learned her lesson, even though she thought the situation was poorly handled. When she was released from jail the next night, she displayed her small purse, saying,"Of course, I did not mean it. I did not have anything, this is the size of my purse, and the comment I made was not that I had a bomb in my purse."

A Universal spokesperson stated, "We take the safety of our guests very seriously and we react as the situation requires. Once the police are involved, it becomes a police matter."
