It took 24 hours for Disneyland’s Magic Key Annual Pass system to sell out this week. The highly-anticipated return of the passes opened for purchase on Wednesday and quickly saw all available Believe Key Passes ($1099) disappear. Shortly after, Imagine Key Passes ($449), which are only available for Southern Californian residents in a specific zip code range, burnt through their allocation, leaving only the highest tier, the Inspire Key Pass left standing, at $1,599 a pop. But by Thursday evening, it was all over, the fireworks had sounded, and Disneyland’s Magic Key queue had officially closed.
While some passes are still available for renewal only, many potential purchasers expressed their disappointment, assuming they had more time to organize their choices. I’ve read so many opinions on both sides; some arguing that they weren’t available for long enough, others claiming that is there were more availability, the elite nature of the program would become redundant, much like the cheaper price of Genie+.
