Inside the Tropicana Inn & Suites, A Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel

Recently, I spent a weekend at the Tropicana Inn & Suites in Anaheim, just across from the Disneyland Resort. The 197-room Tropicana is a fan-favorite because of its close proximity to Disneyland.

The Disneyland Resort is surrounded by locally owned and chain non-Disney eateries, lodging and more, so sometimes there are some great options (and values) to be had just outside of the gates. When it comes to hotels, Disney has partnered with nearly 60 area hotels that can be included with your tickets as part of a Disneyland Resort Good Neighbor Hotel Vacation Package.

The hotel offers several room types, including some that feature a fully equipped kitchen. There are even options for large families or two families traveling together.

Room options are:

  • Single King and Single Sleeper Chair (sleeps 3)
  • Double Queen (sleeps 4)
  • Double Queen and Single Sleeper Chair (sleeps 5)
  • Park View Suite with King and Full Sofa Bed (sleeps 4), plus private balcony with fireworks view
  • One Room Kitchen Suite with Double Queen and Single Sleeper Chair (sleeps 5), plus kitchen
  • Two Room Kitchen Suite with Four Queens and 2 Single Sleeper Chairs (sleeps 10), plus kitchen
  • Family Suite with 2 Double Beds and Full Sofa Bed (sleeps 6), plus kitchen

I was assigned a first-floor queen room with a sleeper chair. The beds were comfortable and the room was bright, with a tropical mural behind the wood plank headboards.

The room features the typical amenities such as a coffee maker, refrigerator and safe, but also a microwave, which you don’t always see.

The bathroom area was spacious, with plenty of counter space and storage underneath.

As with most hotels, the toilet and tub were in a separate room, allowing families to get ready together.

The large pool area is located between the hotel’s wings and includes both a pool and hot tub, plus plenty of chairs and loungers.

The Cove on Harbor sits at the front of the hotel and features the typical convenience store fair, plus a bit of Disney merchandise and a small coffee counter and cafe.

The location is also convenient to several eateries, including McDonald’s, IHOP, Panera Bread, and Mimi’s Bistro & Bakery.

Parking at the hotel is $22 per day (plus tax), but the nearby location ensures that you won’t need to also pay for Disneyland Resort parking. I was even able to leave my car for a few hours after check out.

After my stay at the Tropicana Inn & Suites, I can see why it’s a fan-favorite. With the comfortable rooms and perfect location, it makes for a great stay near the Disneyland Resort.
