SeaWorld Entertainment experienced a clerical payroll error this week, which resulted in all salaried employees not receiving paychecks. SeaWorld said there was a “slight delay” in the paychecks, but didn’t say when it would be corrected or how many employees did not receive their checks.
Becca Bides, SeaWorld spokeswoman, said, “the matter has been rectified and the affected employees have been notified. We regret any confusion and inconvenience this has caused and will work with any team members that experience financial hardships from this delay.”
One affected employee said, “I can’t imagine why they would let something like this happen.” Referencing SeaWorld’s negative image in the press, she said, “everything should be running in top shape right now to be sure you send a message to employees that…the ship isn’t sinking.”
