Disney has done an absolutely masterful job marketing Cool KIDS’ SUMMER at Walt Disney World, so masterful, in fact, that they almost had us forgetting a very inconvenient truth: Orlando in the summer is brutally hot. Like, melt-your-Mickey-bar-before-you-unwrap-it hot.
The marketing blitz has been nothing short of impressive, and when you pair that with a wave of exciting new rides and experiences, it’s easy to get swept up in the magic. I’ll admit it, I’ve been tempted. But let’s be real: for every kid skipping through the park with their Mickey ears, there’s a parent behind them quietly wilting in the Florida humidity. That’s why I’ve started calling it what it really is: Hot PARENTS’ SUMMER where moms and dads get lured into peak heat season because the deals were just too good to say no to.
So here’s my question for you: What’s your breaking point? What deal, ride opening, festival, or experience finally convinces you to brave the heat and book that summer trip to Orlando?

Now, I do want to give credit where it’s due. Cool KIDS’ SUMMER has made some smart moves toward keeping guests cool indoors. Jessie’s Roundup: A Rip-Roarin’ Revue! at Magic Kingdom and GoofyCore at EPCOT are genuinely fun ways to escape the sun for a bit. But I think Disney can go even further, and if Cool KIDS’ SUMMER makes a comeback next year, here’s my wish list.
Transform the World Showplace Pavilion at EPCOT into a Cool-Down Headquarters. That gorgeous, underutilized space is practically begging for a summer takeover. Imagine a character meet-and-greet palooza featuring rare and hard-to-find faces, a live dance party, and even mini indoor cavalcades rolling through the space throughout the day. Toss in a small bar and some light bites in the back, and suddenly you’ve got families voluntarily spending two or three hours inside, cooled off, entertained, and spending money. And since we’re giving World Showplace its big glow-up, it’s time to rebrand and relocate GoofyCore. As much as we love Goofy bringing the chaos to EPCOT, this experience deserves a fresh home, and we have just the place in mind. With The Magic of Disney Animation building in Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios set to open soon, could there be a more perfect, on-theme destination for a Goofy-fueled dance party? The energy, the creativity, the animation, it all fits. Goofy belongs there, and honestly, it would give Hollywood Studios guests a cool indoor reprieve that the park has been desperately missing during the summer months.

Give away spray fans as a shopping incentive. Spend $50 in any Disney store, get a branded spray fan. Simple. Easy. Those little misting fans are an absolute lifesaver on a 95-degree day, and getting more of them into guests’ hands isn’t just a nice perk, it’s a genuine health and safety win that could reduce heat exhaustion across the parks.

More buses! This one might sound unglamorous, but hear me out. One of the most demoralizing summer Disney moments is watching your bus pull away just as you reach the stop, knowing you now have to stand in the sweltering Florida heat for another 30 minutes. Cut that wait to 15 minutes and guest satisfaction scores go up. It’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of operational upgrade that families will appreciate more than I think the Disney executives know.
Hot PARENTS’ SUMMER is real, but with the right moves, Disney could make it a lot more bearable, and dare I say, even enjoyable. Until then, stay hydrated!
