My Perfect Day at Walt Disney World

Inspired by a recent edition of the DISUnplugged podcast, I’ve been thinking – if I only had one day at Disney World, what would my perfect day be?   For the purposes of this article, I’ll try to make my choices something that are actually somewhat attainable, and not add any extra hours to my day. I’m also bringing my family along because it wouldn’t be a perfect day if they weren’t with me. I know, it’s sappy, but it’s true.

We would start off the morning with breakfast at Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian. In fact, to make this day especially perfect, let’s go ahead and say that we stayed at the Polynesian the night before. It’s our favorite resort and that way we don’t have to travel to get our breakfast! I would have Tonga Toast with strawberry sauce and a side of bacon. لعبة الدمبلة Yum!

After fueling up for the day, we’d hop on the monorail to be at the Magic Kingdom by rope drop. What’s that? We’re the first ones here and they want us to be the family of the day? بيت واي Well, ok, if you insist. After riding the train with all the characters, waving to all the excited guests and opening the park, it’s time to head to Fantasyland.

I’m not sure what it is about it, but I love Fantasyland in the morning when the park is still “waking up.” We would head to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train first. Our kids are still young (3, 7, and 9) and my husband and I are young at heart, so we spend awhile in Fantasyland riding our favorites – Barnstormer, Dumbo, Journey of the Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, the carousel, Peter Pan and it’s a small world – and meeting the princesses.

Next, we get some popcorn and eat it while walking to Tomorrowland to ride the Tomorrowland Speedway, Buzz Lightyear and the TTA. My husband and boys head to Space Mountain while my daughter and I take in a showing of Carousel of Progress.

Time for lunch! We have reservations at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Fantasyland. I get the Carved Turkey Sandwich with fries. I love this sandwich! Even better is getting to enjoy it in such a beautiful setting.

After lunch, it’s time to head to the other side of the park. Since we just ate, we will stick to rides that are a little tamer – Pirates of the Caribbean (my favorite!) and Haunted Mansion. Can’t forget a showing of Hall of Presidents while we’re in the area. It’s getting close to parade time, so we head to Main Street U.S.A. and browse in the shops for awhile. When it’s about time for the Festival of Fantasy Parade to start, we get Mickey bars and find a seat (of course we don’t have a problem finding a good one – this is my perfect day!). We sing along and all the princesses wave at my daughter – so much fun! لعبة كريكت

Now, since it’s my perfect day and my kids have been behaving well and we don’t need to go back to the room for naps, it’s time for more rides! Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain are calling our names. After riding each a couple of times, we head back up to the front of the park. There’s a boat waiting, so we climb aboard for the short trip over to the Polynesian. The kids play on the beach while we wait until it’s time for our ‘Ohana reservation. Extra potstickers for me, please.

When supper is over, it’s back on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. We’ve got reserved viewing for the Celebrate the Magic castle show, Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes! I can’t think of a better way to end my perfect day at Disney.

Wishes

Unless… the park isn’t closed yet and we avoid the rush to the front of the park by riding Jungle Cruise! We love to ride this attraction at night. For some reason, it just has a whole different feel at night. Ok, now it’s time to head out. But not without a quick stop at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor for a chocolate chip cookie sandwich with mint chocolate chip ice cream to eat on the way out of the park.

She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
