Disney Offering Hiring Incentives to New Cooks, Bus Drivers, Housekeeping Cast Members

Disney occasionally offers signing bonuses based on their hiring needs at the time and the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that they’ve increased their incentive from $500 to $1,000 or even $1,500 for new full-time and part-time Cast Members in the culinary department. Finding good culinary staff can sometimes be a real challenge for large companies like Disney and these bonuses can be very enticing.

Disney is said to be offering $500 for new housekeeping Cast Members and bus drivers who accept part-time or full-time work with the company as well.

Lifeguards who were hired at Disney in June and July were eligible for a $500 signing bonus.

“There’s resorts, there’s restaurants — all kinds of places for cooks to go so it becomes competitive,” said Ed Chambers, president of the Service Trades Councils, a union coalition that represents about 38,000 employees.

“Chambers called Disney’s bonus ‘a real good incentive’ although he said he preferred the company to spread the bonuses among all employees’ salaries instead.”
