DIS CONTRIBUTORS – LAYOUT GUIDELINES
We'll leave the creative writing up to you, but please read and follow our guidelines when creating your content for the website. The article you submit must meet a minimum word count requirement of 2,000 words or more. We also ask that you DO NOT use Artifical Intelligence (AI) such as Chat GPT, etc., to write your articles with the exception of fact checking or to make corrections.
TITLES
Keep your title descriptive, but short (60 characters or less, if possible) and sweet while using important key words.
Additionally, we use the Associated Press format for titles on our site (visit capitalizemytitle.com for more detailed info):
- Capitalize words with three or more letters.
- Capitalize the first and the last word.
- Capitalize nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinate conjunctions.
- Lowercase articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions, and prepositions.
- Lowercase the 'to' in an infinitive (I want to play guitar).
IMAGES AND VIDEO
Any photos or videos you submit for use within your article must meet the following criteria:
- You must be the owner of the photo/video you are using. That means you are the one who shot the video or took the photo. Under no circumstances can you use photos or videos that you do not own. You may use photos and videos that have been produced by the DIS, but in doing so, you acknowledge and agree that the DIS retains ALL rights to said photos and videos. We make these available to enhance your article. You retain rights to your article, but not to any DIS produced media that appears within it.
- Photos or videos that are submitted for use within articles must adhere to DIS guidelines. No defamatory, vulgar, obscene or objectionable content will be permitted.
- Articles will not be published without photos.
- Please set a "feature image" for your post in the right-hand sidebar of your post in Wordpress. This can be any photo from your article, but preferably another related photo. Feature photos must be horizontal in format.
- Images should be high resolution, but no larger than 1MB.
- Horizontal images are preferred and the only format allowed for feature photos in your article. Vertical images are not recommened.

HYPERLINKS
We encourage you to put hyperlinks in your article. This is a great way to reference other content, making your article more informative. If it is something that can be found on www.wdwinfo.com, please link to the content on our site. This includes things like "Disney Vacation Club", "My Disney Experience", "theme parks", "Advance Dining Reservations", any attractions, lands, restaurants, etc. Only link the item the first time it is mentioned in the article and please be sure to click the check box to open the link in a new tab if you're linking to an outside source. It's okay to have the link open in the same window if it links to our site.Example
Magic Kingdom, Main Street U.S.A., and Adventureland are all hyperlinks in the sentence below.
This restaurant is in a prime location at the Magic Kingdom, at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. as you’re headed to Adventureland.
CATEGORIES AND TAGS
Please be sure to select the appropriate category for your article. If it's about planning, check that box and in addition, select which park or line of business it pertains to such as Walt Disney World or Merchandise. We recommend that you only select one primary category with one sub-category at the most as the main one you choose will become part of the URL.Tags are important too and we suggest using as many as are applicable to your article. Tags should reflect the primary keywords that would be used for online searches on the topic of your article. Using the right tags can help get your article as much exposure as possible.
Important Wordpress Note: If you copy and paste something from the document you're using to type up your article, additional code will inevitably be embedded making your piece unreadable. We have found that it is far better to NOT copy/paste your written text, but to type it directly into the editor. With that in mind, please save your draft often so you don't lose your work.
Articles will not be published if they do not follow our guidelines or if they require heavy editing.
