Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort is currently undergoing renovations, including a refurbishment to its resort rooms and Disney Vacation Club Villas; the interior and patio of Napa Rose are getting an all-new design, plus they are adding a second concierge lounge. All renovations are expected to be completed by fall 2025.
We were very fortunate to recently stay in a newly refurbished resort room on the 5th floor! A Grand Californian cast member told us the rooms are being refurbished by floor, starting on the 6th floor and working their way down. The subtle changes begin in the hallways with new carpeting, room numbers, and dark granite baseboards.
The best part about the lush new carpet is the “Hidden Mickeys” found throughout the design.
I would categorize this as a “soft” refurbishment, meaning the furniture and most details stayed the same. Only the textiles like the carpet, decorative pillows, upholstery, and some of the artwork have changed. I was very excited to see the Chip ‘n’ Dale wood inlay art above the beds is still in the new rooms!
February 2025 room service menu
New sofa upholstery, velvet green decorative pillows, and framed artwork.
Just like the new carpet in the hallways, the carpet in the room features “Hidden Mickeys” throughout.
Bathroom amenities include – a bath soap bar, vanity kits (cotton balls, Q-tips, and a nail file), and lotion.
Additional bathroom amenities include – a dental kit (toothbrush, mini toothpaste, and flosser pick), mouthwash, and loofa.
More new artwork is featured in the vanity area of the bathroom.
The view from our 5th-floor Standard View room – notice the little bit of construction down below. The exterior of the buildings is also being refreshed. This seems to be happening in small sections to hopefully not disturb many guests.
If you’ve stayed at the Grand Californian recently, the changes are very subtle. I do appreciate Disneyland’s attention to detail as the resort prepares for Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration kicking off on May 16, 2025.
