Disney has decided that the popular Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights show will be extended for another few days. Originally scheduled to end on January 3, the light show will now give its final performance on January 6.
To accommodate the extra crowds that will no doubtfully show up for the light display, Hollywood Studios will stay open a couple of hours later, now closing at 10:00pm nightly through the 6th.
The tradition of the dancing lights began in Arkansas in 1986 when the Jennings Osborne family put 1,000 red lights on their house to decorate for Christmas. Every year, they added more and more, becoming a tourist destination during the winter months and eventually causing traffic jams in the area, which cause local law enforcement to insist that they no longer hang the lights.
Disney brought the display to Residential Street in 1995, making 2015 the 20th and last year for the event, which has been cancelled to make room for the Star Wars and Toy Story Land expansions of the park.
