If you attended the Star Wars: Galactic Nights event that was held this past Saturday night at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you may have seen and heard some exciting news that came from a special panel which included Disney Imagineers Scott Trowbridge, Robin Reardon, and Chris Beatty as well as Doug Chiang from Lucasfilm.
The panel discussed the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and how they are “building a real place in the Star Wars universe” along with describing how hard they are working to get all of the details right. Scott shared one of his highlights:
“One of my favorite examples is the Millennium Falcon. We’ve all seen her on screen, but until you climb through that hatch, walk through her hallways, sit inside the cockpit, power her up and actually FLY her yourself, it’s not quite the same.”
Guests of the event were also treated to an update on the team’s progress with a photo of a fleet of full-size X-wing starfighters being built for the upcoming land!
In the panel, they also discussed the incredible amount of storytelling that guests will find in the remote outpost. Chris shared what he experienced while researching some of the exotic markets of Istanbul and Marrakech as those locations are the source of inspiration for the marketplace in the brand new village where guests can look forward to exploring a rich collection of shops and merchant stalls. One of the upcoming merchant stalls will be overseen by a Toydarian, one of the creatures that was first encountered on Tatooine in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Guests can look forward to discovering “all kinds of fun and cool toys straight out of the Star Wars galaxy” in the merchant stall pictured above.
