Thirty days after its release, Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast is still going strong at the box office having surpassed over $1 billion dollars in ticket sales and becoming the first film of the year to reach that mark.
In its first weekend, Disney had hoped the film would pass $140 million which happened without a hitch as sales reached $170 million.
With several announcements in recent months of new live-action adaptations in the works such as Dumbo, Jungle Cruise, and Mulan, it appears that the studio could continue on this successful path for years to come.
