John Kani and Alfre Woodard are the latest actors to join Jon Favreau’s The Lion King live-action remake. Woodard will be voicing Sarabi, Simba’s mom, and Kani will voice Rafiki.
Kani and Woodard will join Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eicher as Timone, and James Earl Jones, who will be reprising his role as Mufasa. Also, John Oliver will voice Zazu, and Chiwetel Ejiofor will voice Scar. According to Screen Rant, Beyoncé may be nearing a deal with Disney to voice Nala and to produce the film’s soundtrack.
The Lion King is due to arrive in theaters on July 19, 2019.
