Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek just took the stage at this year’s D23 Expo Japan, and among his announcements were new details on the upcoming Walt Disney World Star Wars hotel, as well as information on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the new land coming to both the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort.
The Star Wars-themed hotel will be “seamlessly connected” to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests hoping for full story immersion will be able to experience their Star Wars story the second they enter the hotel.
“This first-of-its-kind resort will combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story. Guests’ journey through space will start when everyone departs together for a multiday Stars Wars adventure by boarding a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during a voyage through the galaxy.”
Every room in the hotel will have a viewing window directly into space. All resort guests will be “active citizens of the galaxy,” and are encouraged to dress the part. This innovative resort experience will lead directly into Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios, meaning one fully immersive Star Wars story for guests to live out.
Chapek’s news didn’t only apply to Hollywood Studios; both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort will boast a Star Wars: Galaxy’s edge full of exciting new attractions. Not only will both lands feature the Millennium Falcon, they will also have a fleet of life-sized X-Wing fighters.
