If you’re in Central Florida today, especially anywhere near Walt Disney World, it’s a day to stay weather-aware.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for a large portion of the area, including Orange and Osceola counties, where Walt Disney World is located. The watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. EDT tonight, meaning conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe storms throughout the afternoon.
The watch stretches across much of Central Florida, covering areas like Orlando, Kissimmee, Sanford, and surrounding counties. In short, it’s impacting the core travel zone for many Disney visitors.

Alongside the tornado watch, a Wind Advisory is also in place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., calling for sustained winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. That kind of wind can easily knock around unsecured items, bring down small branches, and make travel a bit more challenging, especially if you’re driving.
For guests currently at Walt Disney World, this kind of weather can lead to temporary ride closures, especially on outdoor attractions, as well as potential transportation delays. Entertainment offerings and shows may also be adjusted as conditions develop throughout the day.
If you’re visiting the parks, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for real-time updates and be prepared to shift plans indoors if storms move through your area. Quick-service dining locations, shops, and indoor attractions can become popular spots when bad weather rolls in.
For those traveling in or out of Orlando today, it’s also worth checking flight statuses and allowing extra time, as weather like this can sometimes ripple into airport delays.
Bottom line, this is a “stay alert” kind of day across Central Florida. Keep an eye on the skies, follow official weather updates, and be ready to adjust your plans as needed.
