The Visual Effects Society (VES) announced the winners of their annual VES Awards last night which honor outstanding visual effects in motion pictures, television, and other media.
Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom won the award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project!
The multi-award winning Avatar Flight of Passage is an ingenious attraction inside Pandora: The World of Avatar that allows guests the opportunity to soar over the magnificent and lush landscape of Pandora while sitting on the back of a banshee. The multi-sensory experience uses state-of-the-art technology and complex special effects like never before. “Guests can actually feel the banshee breathe beneath them as they fly high above floating mountains, plunge through ancient caverns and skim across roaring oceans.”
This is the second major industry award for Avatar Flight of Passage as it also won a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement: Attraction back in November of 2017.
