Cruise Critic’s 2018 Cruisers’ Choice Awards have been announced, and Disney’s fleet has a strong presence among the rankings. The lists are formed using Cruise Critic member published reviews over a twelve month period; a minimum number of member reviews must be reached before a ship can be considered for a place in the top 10.
Here is how Disney Cruise Line fared (quoted comments are taken from Cruise Critic reviews):
#2 Best Mid-Size Overall – “The Wonder has an awesome crew that provided us with the usual outstanding service. The food was excellent. We would highly recommend the Wonder and plan to see her again for spring break next year!”
#1 Best Mid-Size Entertainment – “The stage shows are not to be missed on this ship… The new stage musical Frozen is fantastic as well as the last night show Dreams. In between is excellent entertainment in the main theater as well as the adult only clubs at night.”
#2 Best Mid-Size Cabins – “Perfect cabin – Balcony stateroom worth the extra $. Right side of ship faces sun 2/3 days. Middle of boat saw no rocking/seasickness.”
#2 Best Mid-Size Public Rooms – “We also loved getting family pics made with Mickey as well as special family pics in the beautiful lobby atrium during formal night.”
#5 Best Mid-Size Dining – “Food was excellent, not haute cuisine but comparable to any good-excellent restaurant that we usually visit.”
#5 Best Mid-Size Service- “As I mentioned, we loved the Disney Cruise, but I was particularly touched by the amazing and loving service the photography team gave to me and my family.”
#7 Best Mid-Size Embarkation – “Embarkation was a breeze with a 3-3:30 pm check-in we walked right on with no lines.”
#10 Best Mid-Size for Value – “One of the best vacations I have been on. Everything from top to bottom was a class act and beyond expectations… It was worth every penny!!”
#6 Best Cruise for First-Timers – “This was our first cruise. From start to finish, it was absolutely amazing and out of this world.”
#6 Best Large Ship Overall – “We will definitely go back! The food was great, service was wonderful! It was clean and top notch. I don’t have any complaints.”
#3 Best Large Ship Entertainment – “The shows were FLAWLESS, BEAUTIFUL and just excellent in EVERY way! I wish I could have seen them more than once!!!”
#5 Best Large Ship Cabins – “Our cabin (9664) was very comfy. Our Cabin Steward (name we can’t remember) was just wonderful.”
#9 Best Large Ship Service – “The staff was amazing! All my questions got answered. They were ALWAYS kind. I don’t think I have ever been with a staff as nice as this one.”
#9 Best Large Ship Dining – “I cannot say enough about the quality (and quantity) of the food. I ate things I normally would never order out in a restaurant. The service was top notch.”
#9 Best Large Ship Embarkation – “I loved the disembarkation process. Go to an assigned dining room–no buffet or room service–eat, get off the ship. No waiting for your number to be called as you sit in an auditorium or bar somewhere. We were off and through customs by 8:30 a.m.”
Best Cruises for Families
It should come as no surprise that Disney Cruise Line had a significant showing on this list. This award is not broken down into separate categories for ship size.
#2 Disney Fantasy – “Our kids-ages 8/12/13 all loved their kids activities…”
#6 Disney Dream – “There are lots of opportunities for folks with kids or grand-kids to enjoy meeting ‘Characters’ and ‘Princesses’…”
#9 Disney Wonder – “This is our 3rd cruise as a family… Disney had far exceeded any expectation each time.”
