Bags, both what style and what’s in them, are often a hot topic on the DISboards. Posters will share pictures of their bags and lists of the items they carry with them to the theme parks.
For me, I like to wear a Vera Bradley cross-body purse, specifically, the Saddle Up bag or a Hipster (I just got one of the new Mickey prints! القمار ). I like my bag to be medium sized. I’ve tried a backpack before and I do like that it’s out of the way, but I find myself constantly getting into it for my phone (my primary camera), a drink of water, some gum… With a cross-body bag, it’s easy to reach in quickly and get what I need. As far as items I pack in my purse, I don’t think I really carry anything unusual: my wallet, granola bar, gum, bandaids, moleskin, safety pin, foldup hairbrush, powder compact, hair tie, hand sanitizer, headache medicine, ziploc bag and phone charger. These things all fit in another small ziploc bag. Depending on the weather, I’ll roll up a sweatshirt or rain jacket. I often have a bottle of water with me as well.
Image: I couldn’t find a photo of me with my bag in a park, so a photo of me and my bag on a Disney cruise is the next best thing!
We almost always travel to Walt Disney World in January, so the weather can be iffy. So far, we still have a young child so we use a stroller and can stuff extra sweatshirts and snacks underneath. Once we are out of this phase, we’ll probably have everyone carry their own sweatshirts or tie them around their waists. We have three kids and I definitely cannot fit all of that in my bag!
I thought it would be fun to share some posts from one of these threads as a conversation starter here on the blog. Here’s what some of the posters on this thread had to say:
Shelly F – Ohio: “I carry: Phone, Money, Asprin, Bandaid, Camera, Bottle of water. In hot weather I carry my Frogg Togg too.”
Ancestry: “I refuse to carry a bag in the park. Nothing was more freeing then when my kids were old enough that I didn’t need to lug stuff around with me anymore. I make sure that I wear shorts-pants with pockets for my ID but that is all I bring into the parks.”
scholastica: “I also used a crossbody purse and had my wallet (ID, cards, insurance info, gift cards), moleskin, a couple small snacks, chapstick, autograph book with sharpie, advil, a few crayons, glow sticks, phone, and sunglasses”
daisynan: “Going with kids, I feel like I take everything but the kitchen sink. Last time, the Hubs and I went by ourselves and I just carried a crossbody purse. I had my wallet, phone, 2 ponchos, and lipstick/chapstick in it. I think that was it. If we had gone in the warmer months, I probably would have included some sunscreen.”
Bellanota: “The one thing I packed that might be considered odd is a pill box in my park day bag… i used it for pills
But no what I did was take and put all the over the counter meds we might need.. advil, pepto, benadryil in the kid and adult version in different day slots then write with a fine sharpie what they were and what the dosage was. Now i dont have to lug alot of bottles around and I dont have to worry about over the counter meds in the park.”
kangaand2roos: “I’ve taken to wearing cargo pants/shorts so I don’t need to carry a bag. Not carrying a bag allows me to skip bag check!”
WDWLoveForever: “Am I the only one who finds it harder to keep the things down to a minimum in the winter? I feel like i always need 10 extra things in the winter i.e. hand cream, cuticle cream, gloves, more intense chapstick, etc…”
angeladcp: “I always carry:
1. Cell Phone with regular wall charger & a backup battery, that way I have multiple ways to charge my phone if I want to sit and take a break or if I’m needing to be somewhere I can charge it without being near an outlet. اسرار لعبة الروليت i also bring headphones, i like listening to podcasts if I’m stuck in long lines.
2. Vera Bradley Zip ID Case with my cash, debit card, Driver’s License, and other important I.D.’s
3. Small Cosmetic bag to organize my makeup. All I bring in this is powder, a brush, travel throw-away toothbrushes, travel kleenex, band aids, small sunscreen, hair brush, travel hair spray, ponytail holders, nail clippers, ibu profen, my inhaler, and chapstick.
4. Camera with Extra Memory Card, Batteries, and Charger in my camera bag.
5. Sunglasses, Hat, Umbrella. I prefer Umbrellas over ponchos.
6. Water Bottle so I don’t have to spend money on expensive disney water.
7. Quick snacks like a granola bar or crackers, things that won’t melt. Sometimes I just need something to hold me until my next meal and it’s easier doing this than paying $5-$15 for more disney food.
if it’s cooler i will bring a jacket.”
Feel free to comment below with your favorite bags and your must-haves in your park bag. Do these packing lists look like yours? Do you carry anything unusual that we may not have thought of?
