Happy 50th Anniversary, Walt Disney World!

October 1st, 1971, was a beautiful day filled with unprecedented anticipation and excitement that electrified the air. A smaller-than-expected crowd of approximately 10,000 people gathered to witness the celebration of imagination and family-style fun with the opening of Walt Disney World. Though the anniversary that we have all been looking forward to falls on this Happy 50th Anniversary, Walt Disney World!

Special 50th Anniversary merchandise was released at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and we’re hoping that this means more resort-specific merchandise is on the way. The merchandise is currently available at the Meadows Trading Post. Items include a special pin, tire cover, chair, MagicBand, print, towel, and more; take a look! Now it’s time to say goodbye… Earlier this year, The Walt Disney Company announced the September closure of most Disney Store locations nationwide. This is the second and final phase of the closure process. The closest one near my town in New Jersey is about thirty minutes away in a mall that I’ve visited often. See Ya Real Soon, Disney Store!
