6 Things We Never Skip at Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom is a huge park with so much to do, which can be exhausting. Some of the most iconic attractions and snacks live in this park, so planning a day here can be complicated. On our last trip to Magic Kingdom, I created a list of the six things I never skip when I’m in this park. Be sure to leave your list in the comments under the article. Hopefully, this can help you in the planning process!

Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean has always been my favorite attraction at Magic Kingdom, and anytime I visit the park, I can’t leave until I ride it. I know it’s nowhere near as good as some of the other versions that exist around the world, but it’s still a fun ride.

In my opinion, this is an iconic Magic Kingdom attraction and is the heart of Adventureland. If you have younger travelers who aren’t ready to experience the small drop at the start of the water ride, I suggest going to Jungle Cruise next door.

Festival of Fantasy Parade

Ever since the Festival of Fantasy Parade debuted at the park in 2014, it’s been something I watch every visit. I know the parade isn’t what it used to be since it came back from the pandemic closure, but the soundtrack still makes it amazing. Hopefully, one day soon, it will be back to what it used to be. I miss the Brave float and the dancers that perform in front of the first float.

Even though it’s lacking in some areas, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad parade. Many visitors love the parade, especially many younger travelers, since there are so many different characters in it.

Every time I watch the parade, I leave it with the biggest smile on my face, and of course, the song stays in my head for the rest of the day.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is my favorite “mountain” attraction at Magic Kingdom. It is a fun yet thrilling ride that is perfect for kids who are starting to show interest in bigger coasters.

The perfect time to ride this attraction is at night. The lighting makes it feel like it’s an entirely different ride. I highly recommend getting on the attraction while the fireworks are going off. It is a beautiful view, and it’s something you’ll never forget.

If you are traveling with someone who isn’t ready to get on the wildest ride in the wilderness, then I suggest taking them to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland. It’s the less intense version of Big Thunder Mountain. That coaster also has beautiful views of the fireworks.

DOLE Whip or Ice Cream!

As I mentioned earlier, Magic Kingdom has some of the most iconic treats, one of those being DOLE Whip. I tried this delicious treat over a year ago and fell in love with it. Now, anytime I come here and crave something fruity and tart, I run to Adventureland and grab DOLE Whip.

On days I crave chocolate ice cream, I walk over to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and order their plant-based ice cream, which is soy-based. I know this isn’t the best ice cream in the world, but there’s nothing like getting a sweet treat and walking out to Cinderella Castle.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

TRON is the newest attraction at Magic Kingdom and has quickly become one of my favorite rides at Disney World. It’s hard to do this every trip because it depends on if I can score a spot in the virtual queue, but I wish I could do it every time.

It is such a fun and thrilling attraction. I think it’s an excellent addition to Tomorrowland, and it looks absolutely beautiful at night. I haven’t gotten the chance to ride it at night, but I got to do it during sunset, which was breathtaking. I hope one day soon I can experience it at night.

Meet Princesses

It wouldn’t be a trip to Magic Kingdom unless I stopped at Princess Fairytale Hall to say hi to a few princesses. Meeting characters at this park is so magical, especially the princesses. The second best place to meet them is at EPCOT in their respective pavilions.

I love taking friends and family to this meet-and-greet location. I think it’s such a beautiful place to meet them, and the air conditioning is always blasting here.

Hi, I'm Erica, and I write about all things Disney. Before working for The DIS, I was a theme park performer at SeaWorld, but I also performed at Disney. I have such an immense love for theme parks to the point I studied them in college.
