With yesterday’s official closure of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, phase one of the complete erasure of dinosaurs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has commenced. But don’t worry, fossil fans, we still have a large dino presence in central Florida…
Of course, with a big Disney closure happening, Universal likes to chime in wherever they see fit. Their social media team is pretty genius when it comes to quippy responses for the house of mouse. Universal Orlando had a pretty solid clapback to Disney’s partial DinoLand closure, noting how they have multiple dinosaur-based experiences just up the road based on Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.
Just yesterday, @UniversalORL tweeted: “If only there was a theme park with a dinosaur themed area, rides and dinos you can meet — oh wait“
At the very least, it keeps Disney on their toes, and keeps us theme park fans entertained.
Of course, dinosaurs aren’t completely extinct at Disney’s Animal Kingdom just yet. DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus and other small areas are still open for the next year. But with half of the land closing down, it truly is a Countdown to Extinction…
A little friendly theme park competition never hurt anyone. If Disney were to ever respond to Universal’s quippy clapbacks, how do you think it would go down? Disney tends to keep their social media messages positive, always looking ahead to the future. I have a feeling we’d see a “stay tuned for new information on the exciting Tropical Americas additions” or “see how we’re maintaining the incorporation of dinosaurs here…”, or how about “just kidding everyone, we know how important dinosaurs are to world history and the animal kingdom itself, so we’re creating an all-new dinosaur land in another area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom!“– that is, if Disney would ever respond at all.
I guess you can’t win them all, huh?
