There are many frozen sweet treats to choose from at Walt Disney World, including the cult-classic DOLE Whip. Something that once was a fruity soft-serve rival to the DOLE Whip has been missing for quite some time now, and we’d like it back, please! Today, we’re talking about the [elusive] Citrus Swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace.
Themed after our favorite little Orange Bird, the Citrus Swirl combines tangy frozen orange juice swirled with vanilla soft-serve. Over the last few years, the Citrus Swirl has disappeared and returned time and time again. Sadly, more recently, the beloved Magic Kingdom treat was discontinued in April of this year.
Instead, the Sunshine Tree Terrace currently offers an Orange Cream made with DOLE Whip Orange and vanilla soft-serve.
Over the last year, we’ve asked the friendly Adventureland Cast Members on the mysterious whereabouts of the Citrus Swirl. From product shortages to the machine requiring a specific part to work again, the original orange treat hasn’t had the easiest go lately.
Curiously, the Citrus Swirl is still pictured within the My Disney Experience app when mobile ordering from Sunshine Tree Terrace, but the menu only lists the DOLE Whip Orange replacement… foiled again.
Hopefully the Citrus Swirl makes a comeback soon. The contrast between the tart orange and sweet soft-serve is what makes it special, and there’s nothing else like it!
