Disney for Boys

In a world of princesses and all things Frozen, where do boys fit in? Don’t get me wrong, my two boys have had their share of princess photo ops and Frozen sing-a-longs and enjoyed them! However, there are other Disney experiences that they find more appealing. Here are 6 things at Disney World your boys will love!

  • Wilderness Explorers – Found in the Animal Kingdom, kids can visit different stations throughout the park to learn about animals, uncover fossils, discover different cultures, and earn badges. Each kid receives a Wilderness Explorers field guide and can collect over 30 badges. I personally loved the Hand Washing Badge my boys earned for learning to wash their hands thoroughly at the petting zoo! They liked the Telescope Badge they earned for discovering the height of Mount Everest.

  • Jedi Training Academy – Take on Darth Vader himself in this Hollywood Studios show! Children, ages 4 to 12, are outfitted with a Jedi robe and lightsaber and taught by a Jedi Master how to defend themselves against the dark side. Darth Vader himself appears and fights every junior Jedi in training! This event is a must for all young Star Wars fans. Be sure to sign up first thing in the morning as space is limited to only 12 participants per show. There are multiple shows throughout the day.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean ride, interactive activity, and show – This classic ride in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland will have your boys humming “Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate’s life for me” for the rest of the day. Just outside the ride at The Crow’s Nest, your kids can pick up a magic talisman for A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas. The talisman allows you to complete five different treasure missions that take about 20 minutes each. Complete all five before the day is through and become a member of Captain Jack Sparrow’s crew! Need more Jack Sparrow? Watch Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial, which is also near the ride in Adventureland. In this comedic performance, a few young pirates are chosen each show to learn how to sword fight or retreat like a true pirate.

  • Festival of the Lion KingThis show in Animal Kingdom is one of the best that Disney World has to offer. Your boys will love watching the tumble monkeys, fire jugglers, and stilt walkers while singing along to Hakuna Matata. The entertainers and music are truly amazing!

  • Test Track ride and interactive activitiesThis ride at Epcot will bring out the creativity and competitiveness in your boys. Before the ride, participants design a virtual concept vehicle to test out on the track. Once your design is complete, board the “simulation vehicle” and test your vehicle’s capability, responsiveness, efficiency, and power on a thrilling test drive. Throughout the ride, your vehicle will be compared to other vehicles that were designed by your co-riders. After the ride, test out your vehicle further with Chevrolet’s hands-on exhibits.

  • Hollywood Studios Character Meet and Greets – In Hollywood Studios, you will find many beloved Disney characters that boys enjoy meeting. From Buzz and Woody to Phineas and Ferb to Lightning McQueen and Mater to Mr. Incredible and Frozone, there is always someone fun to meet. Baymax and Hiro even recently joined the scene! Be sure to find Mike and Sulley. They like to give big hugs!
