Disney fans gathered at Walt Disney World for Destination D23 2025, where Disney shared a wave of exciting news about upcoming attractions, entertainment, and experiences across its parks and cruise line. The announcements highlighted new ways Disney is honoring its past while also looking toward the future.
Villains-Themed Land at Magic Kingdom
One of the biggest reveals was an update on the inspiration behind the villains-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom. Imagineers confirmed the land will include two major attractions, plus themed dining and shopping. The overall design is heavily influenced by European Art Nouveau architecture, giving the land a dramatic, storybook quality. Disney Legend Andreas Deja, animator of iconic villains such as Jafar, Gaston, and Scar, is serving as a consultant to ensure the land captures the essence of these memorable characters.
Art Nouveau is a style of decorative art, architecture, and design that was prominent in Western Europe and the US from approximately 1890 until World War I, characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms.

TRON Ares Ride Overlay
Magic Kingdom’s TRON Lightcycle / Run will get a new high-energy overlay inspired by TRON Ares. The experience will replace the familiar blue tones of the Grid with bold red hues, paired with pulsing music from Nine Inch Nails.

Walt Disney Joins Carousel of Progress
Another surprise came with the announcement that an Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney himself will soon appear in Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Imagineers shared that this addition will honor Walt’s legacy in one of his most beloved attractions.

Disney Cruise Line – Disney Destiny Updates
Looking to the sea, Disney Cruise Line announced new details for the Disney Destiny, which sets sail in November 2025. Guests will find themed drinks in lounges inspired by Disney villains, the Haunted Mansion, and Marvel. A new “Meet and Play” experience will also debut with Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog, who will interact with guests through card tricks and illusions.

New Novelties for Parks and Cruise Line
Disney also revealed that eight new novelty items are on the way, including popcorn buckets, sippers, and mugs. These collectibles will be available across Disney Parks and aboard Disney Cruise Line ships.

Cinderella Castle’s Fresh Look
Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom is getting a refreshed color scheme. The new design will feature grays, creams, blues, and gold accents, carefully chosen to highlight the castle’s architecture while keeping it shimmering in the Florida sun. Imagineers explained that special paints and finishes are used to ensure the castle stays picture-perfect for years to come.

World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris
At Disneyland Paris, Disney confirmed that World of Frozen will open in spring 2026. The expansion will feature Elsa’s Ice Palace as its centerpiece and will mark the official transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World.

Dates Announced for D23 2026
Finally, Disney announced that D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will return to Anaheim from August 14–16, 2026. The event will once again take place at both the Anaheim Convention Center and the Honda Center, with tickets going on sale in spring 2026.

From villains and overlays to castles and cruises, Destination D23 2025 was filled with announcements that sparked excitement and debate among fans. Which update are you most excited about? Or, which one surprised you the most?
