“There are no windows, and no doors”… and for the moment, no visible mansion.
A fully printed, photo-realistic scrim now stretches across a large portion of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, masking exterior refurbishment work happening behind the scenes. The decorative wrap features a high-resolution image of the attraction’s gothic façade, giving visitors the illusion that the stately manor is still standing unobstructed… at least from a distance.

Printed scrims like this are typically installed when projects are expected to last for an extended period. Rather than leaving standard green construction tarps in place, Disney often opts for themed coverings that blend more seamlessly into the environment. In this case, the wrap recreates the Mansion’s distinctive architecture, minimizing the visuals of scaffolding and restoration work.

While Disney has not announced a timeline for completion, the addition of a full photo scrim suggests the exterior work could continue for several months. Refurbishments of this scale (particularly on a high-profile attraction) are usually handled in phases to preserve the show quality of the park’s most recognizable landmarks.
Despite the construction walls and scrim, the attraction itself remains fully operational. You can still enter the queue and experience the ride as normal, with no changes to interior scenes or operations during the exterior restoration.

The park is already buzzing with walls all around the old Rivers of America, as well as activity “beyond Big Thunder” tied to the upcoming Cars and Villains-themed lands. This corner of Magic Kingdom, spanning Liberty Square and Frontierland, has become one of the most active construction zones in Walt Disney World.

The Mansion’s scrim looks especially unusual after dark. Lit by nearby lighting, or occasional fireworks during Happily Ever After shining through it, the printed daytime façade looks rather surreal. A new kind of eerie…

It’s rare to see the Haunted Mansion like this, hidden in plain sight while the real work happens just behind the curtain!
