Did you know that EPCOT in Walt Disney World has four different neighborhoods you should visit during your day in the park? The Land pavilion in the World Nature neighborhood is our favorite. The pavilion is dedicated to how humans interact with the Earth, and the focus is on agriculture, conservation, and travel.
The Land opened on October 1, 1982, as part of Phase I when it was known as EPCOT Center. The pavilion explains how humans can use the land for their benefit and how they can destroy it. It will make you appreciate what we have here on Earth.
Your first stop in the pavilion should be the Harvest Theater to watch the movie Awesome Planet. It educates you about climate change and how precious our planet is. There is a handicapped accessible row of seating in the back. Those seats will exit on the second floor, and you will need to take the elevator to the lower level for the other attractions and the food court area.
You will exit the movie on the lower level, where Sunshine Seasons, the food court, is located. This area has several different food booths and is open for breakfast and lunch. It does not offer dinner.
You can also enter the queue for Living with the Land. It is a slow-moving, narrated boat ride through the greenhouses. You can see how they raise the crops for use in the Garden Grill restaurant. There is a boat that is wheelchair accessible, but you may need to wait until that boat comes around. There is an elevator as you exit that will take you to the second floor.
The very popular attraction, Soarin’ Around the World, is also located in this pavilion. This attraction was originally designed and built for Disney California Adventure Park out in Disneyland. It opened on May 5, 2005. Pro tip: If you have a fear of heights, don’t pick the first row. It goes the highest.
I highly recommend having Lightning Lane reservations for the attractions in this pavilion. The waits can be long due to their popularity.
You can also take the 1-hour Behind the Seeds Greenhouse Tour. There will be a sign telling you when the next tour begins.
Have you visited this pavilion? What did you enjoy? ‘Til next time, see you in the parks!
