What ID You Need to Buy Alcohol at Disney Parks

As guests of the Disney Parks, we often think that once our tickets are booked and our plans are made, the rest falls into place. Now, sometimes that does happen, but other times, we can find ourselves ill-prepared for a particular situation or experience, not knowing the full extent of what we need to bring with us. One such situation is when you’re looking forward to a special dining experience or a particular alcoholic beverage, but you don’t have the correct identification with you. Those newly turning the legal drinking age of 21, or guests visiting from overseas, might not realize that flashing your usual photo ID from home might not be enough when it comes to proof of identity. Here is what you need to know in both Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort for US residents and International visitors:

Walt Disney World

Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at Walt Disney World Resort by all Guests 21 years of age or older.

Any Guest who wishes to purchase an alcoholic beverage at Walt Disney World Resort must present one of the following valid forms of identification:

  • US state driver’s license (includes US territories*)
  • US state ID (includes US territories*)
  • US military ID
  • Original passport
  • Copy of passport (either on paper or captured on a mobile device), along with a government-issued photo ID** that can verify the person and birth date shown on the copy
  • NEXUS card issued by US Customs and Border Patrol (Canadian Guests only)

All Guests visiting from outside of the United States are required to present both a valid passport as well as another form of government-issued photo ID from their country of origin.

Walt Disney World Resort reserves the right to refuse sale and/or service of alcoholic beverages to anyone.

The Walt Disney World Resort alcohol policy is subject to change without notice.

*US territories include Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, US Virgin Islands and American Samoa.

**Foreign driver’s licenses or ID cards are not acceptable by themselves.


Disneyland Resort

Alcoholic beverages may be purchased at the Disneyland Resort by Guests 21 years of age or older. The documents required to verify age vary for United States residents and non-United States residents..

United States Residents

United States residents who wish to purchase an alcoholic beverage at the Disneyland Resort must present one of the following forms of identification:

  • Identification card issued by a governmental agency in the United States (Federal, State, Territory,* County, City) that contains the following:
    • Name
    • Date of birth
    • Physical description of the person
    • Photo of the person
    • Expiration date
  • Valid active United States Armed Forces ID (must include date of birth and portrait photo)
  • Valid original passport

Temporary driver’s licenses, temporary ID cards and copies of passports, driver’s licenses or ID cards are not acceptable.

* United States territories include Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, United States Virgin Islands and American Samoa.

Non-United States Residents

Original passports are the only form of identification acceptable for Guests from outside the United States; non-United States driver’s licenses, ID cards, temporary ID cards and copies of ID cards are not acceptable.
