Are you heading to Walt Disney World next month? You should know there are a few popular attractions that won’t be open! Attraction downtimes are common at the parks; whether it’s for a few moments or hours worth of a ride delay, or an extended period for attraction maintenance and repairs. If you’re planning on visiting the most magical place on earth next month, here are the attractions currently scheduled to be down during the month of May. Additionally, there is one fan-favorite attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios which is soon closing for good. Experience it this month while you can!
Magic Kingdom
– Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed in January of this year, and will reopen sometime in 2026 with some “extra magic”. We can’t wait to see what’s in store!
– Liberty Square’s Hall of Presidents closed on January 20th, and is currently expected to open “later in 2025”.
– Astro Orbiter will reopen in Tomorrowland sometime in the summer after a multi-month refurbishment.
EPCOT
– Test Track has been closed for a few months now. The “3.0” reimagined version officially opens later this summer!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
While there are no scheduled attraction closures for May at Disney Hollywood Studios, there are some substantial projects on the horizon for this park. Two new shows will premiere in just a few weeks on May 27th: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.
While not an attraction, but a table-service dining restaurant, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will close for good on May 10th to make way for the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
This is also the last full month to experience Muppet*Vision 3D before its last day of operation on June 7th.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed permanently on March 17th to make way for a new Zootopia show debuting later this year. However, there are no other Animal Kingdom attraction closures scheduled for May!
Thankfully, besides this May 2025 closure list, there are another 70 or so attractions to enjoy at Walt Disney World. Which one are you most excited to experience again soon?
