Walt Disney World has announced special events on October 1 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Epcot. Interestingly, Disney has not always marked these anniversaries and theme park fans have had to create their own celebration. The events on October 1 are actually presented by D23, Disney's official fan club, and are included in park admission.

In Epcot's World Showplace at 1:00-2:00 pm: Designing the Future - Past and Present: A panel of Disney Imagineers remembers 30 years of building tomorrow!
4:30-6:00 pm: Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar
6:30-8:00 pm: Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar

At 3:00 in the America Gardens Theatre, Disney leaders will speak, as well as performances from Mariachi Cobre and the Voices of Liberty.

A special 30th anniversary ending will be added to that evening's performance of IllumiNations.

30th anniversary merchandise will be available including t-shirts, hats and pins.
