Disney Cruise Line suspends Florida resident discounts

by Leah Zanolla
Aug 1, 2011

Disney Cruise Line has decided to temporarily suspend Florida resident discounts for sailings. The reason for the decision seems to be that the Disney Dream, which is currently the only Disney ship stationed in Port Canaveral, is routinely being booked up. Discounts are generally used in order to lure new customers to fill sailings, but with customers already filling the Dream on a regular basis, there is no need to offer such a promotion.

It is believed that the discount could return as early as October when the Disney Magic, which is currently in the Mediterranean, returns to Port Canaveral to resume its Caribbean sailings. Then in February of 2012, the Disney Fantasy will come on line, giving Disney three ships at Port Canaveral. A spokesperson for Disney Cruise Line said, "While no special rates are available at this time for Florida residents, guests are encouraged to check back weekly for updates."
