Wheel falls off Disneyland monorail - updatedby Leah Zanolla
Feb 19, 2013
A mechanical problem on Monday caused the Disneyland monorail to be closed temporarily. A wheel fell off one of the monorails around 10:00 am, on the busy Presidents' Day holiday. Some minor smoke occurred after the incident, which caused power to the entire line to be shut down. Another train was on the track as well, which stranded passengers for 45 minutes while waiting to be towed to a station. These passengers received front-of-the-line passes, as well as free dining vouchers. The monorail was back in operation by 12:40 pm; the damaged car remained in the shop for maintenance.
Update 2/20/13: The original source of this story has updated their information to say that the problem was actually caused by a short circuit, not a broken wheel. Both cars were operating normally Tuesday.
