SeaWorld appeals OSHA ruling to keep trainers out of water

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment have officially appealed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) ruling in the case regarding the February 2010 death of one of their trainers. After investigation, OSHA recommended that the marine park not let their trainers have "unprotected contact with killer whales during shows." The appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals was not unexpected; this summer SeaWorld noted that it was "highly likely" they would appeal the citation. So far, the courts have not been ruling in favor of SeaWorld. According to the Orlando Sentinel, they had challenged the original citation "before the independent Occupational Safety and Review Commission, but a commission-appointed administrative law judge ruled against the company, and the commission then upheld his decision."
