SeaWorld Orlando had a first recently - their veterinarians performed a c-section on a shark. The team in charge of the sharks at Discovery Cove, SeaWorld's boutique park, noticed that one of their whitetip reef sharks was having complications with her pregnancy. They determined that a cesarean section would be necessary. The procedure was performed at the park on July 18 and four shark pups were born. Each weighed under three pounds and were two feet long. The sharks are still being monitored, but are doing well. They will eventually rejoin the other sharks for the public to see.
