Disney Cruise Line Staterooms

Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Tour

Disney Cruise Line strives to make the staterooms of their ships "a floating home away from home" and the attention paid to detail here goes a long way in helping to attain that goal. Staterooms that are larger than most found on other cruise ships, extra storage, natural wood and imported tiles are the little touches that add to your comfort. The nautical theming of the staterooms has a bit of "Mickey" to remind you that this is after all, a Disney Cruise ship.

Category 1

As you pass through the doors of Stateroom 8030 or 8530, you are struck by the uniqueness and grandeur of these very special Suites.  The contrast of the rich, dark mahogany accents against the pale, bleached teak walls and light carpeting, give an elegant air to this unforgettable home at sea.  Personal touches such as the framed photographs of Walt and his brother, Roy, lend to the sentimental value.

All of the corners of the gleaming walls in the rooms are rounded, and selective lighting offers a soft, rich appearance.  Multi-tiered molding with triangle accents, add to the sophisticated look.

The entranceway is designed to welcome you with the photograph of Walt above a black and gold marble topped with wrought iron credenza.  Across the hall you will find an entertainment station with a wet bar and refrigerator beneath it.  There is a 2 piece bathroom beside it.  The small hallway leading to the Master Suite, provides two closets, one of them a walk in, for plenty of storage.  You will find extra pillows and 2 heavy gauge Mickey bathrobes here.  The classical elegance you would expect to find in a deluxe Walt Disney World Resort is evident in the luxurious, crisp linens found on the king sized bed in hues of sea foam and tan.  The accompanying polished mahogany nightstands have storage drawers and lamps atop them.  A well-lit vanity, with more drawers, has a soft chair for your comfort.  An armoire set into the wall holds a 13" television and drawers beneath it.  Black and gold marble tiles surround the full suite bathroom.  The two sinks have black marble around the base.  Relax in the luxurious Jacuzzi as you soak up the splendor of this room.  The large shower area features a seat that is part of the shower wall.  A hair dryer is provided for your convenience.

The master bedroom is separated from a sitting room by sliding privacy doors of frosted glass etched with an art deco design.  In this sitting area, you will find 2 lounging chairs with ottomans, floor lamps and a full sized Murphy bed that will sleep 2.

The focus piece of the living room is a luxuriant entertainment center encased in the wall that holds a 25" television with Bose surround sound system, a 5 disc CD Player, Sony receiver, hi-fi stereo and VCR.  Sit in the comfort of the black accented, pale gray sofa or one of the two matching chairs and enjoy the comforts of home.  A black marble topped coffee table will hold the drinks you can prepare from the entertainment station with copper sink wet bar and refrigerator underneath.  The comfortable, homey atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of display cases strategically placed around the room.  These well-lit cases hold charming accent pieces as well as a variety of books.  Nautical or water themes, poetry, and classics can be found here.  A corner closet holds life vests.  A small piano with a vase of colorful exotic flowers adds a touch of elegance.

A marble top table in the dining room comfortably seats 6, but can set up to 8.  A mahogany sideboard and wall mirror complement the cozy room.

A second bedroom holds two twin beds with a pull down bunk over each.  A desk that stands between the beds has 3 double drawers for storage and lamps on top.  The walk-in closet has two more Mickey bathrobes.  Guests can relax in the privacy of their bedroom to watch the 13" television here.  The full en suite bathroom is slightly larger than that found in lower categories on the ship.  In addition to a hairdryer, other toiletries found here include shampoo, body lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste.  Storage tins are available for personal effects.

Soak up the stunning view from the very large balcony.  This is large enough to hold 10-15 people comfortably.  There are four doors to the balcony, one from the sitting area, two from the living area (although one of these is blocked by the couch), and one from the dining room.  For your comfort, a chaise lounge, 4 chairs and 2 small round tables allow you to relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets.

Other amenities found here include Disney publications, in-room safe, individual climate control and voice mail.  The Walter E. Disney and Roy E. Disney Suites combine an elegant deco style with a nautical theme that results in splendor on the high seas.

**NOTE**  Since their are only 2 Category 1 staterooms on the Disney Magic (and 2 on the Disney Wonder), these are very difficult staterooms to book.  It is advised that you book as far in advance as possible if you wish to secure a Category 1 Stateroom.

Category 2

With 945 square feet of space, the Two Bedroom Suite with Verandah offers Disney Cruise Line guests an elegant, comfortable place to relax and indulge themselves during their Disney Cruise.  The use of stark contrast with the rich, dark gleaming wood against pale, soft walls and carpet, is visually appealing and gives a luxurious feel to the suite.  As in the category 1 suites, all the corners in the rooms are rounded, and selective lighting offers a soft, rich appearance.

As you enter the suite, a rich-looking marble credenza is on the left.  To the right, a storage closet holds the life vests and extra blankets.  For your convenience, a 2-piece bathroom is nearby.  Across the hall, is the entrance to the first bedroom.  A comfortable queen-sized bed is flanked by nightstands with lamps and a telephone.  Shelving units hold tasteful decorating accents.  A walk in closet holds 2 heavy gauge Mickey bathrobes.  There is also a dressing table with storage drawers and a pull down bed.  A 13" television is provided here in the armoire.  The second bedroom also has a queen sized bed, nightstands, lamps, dressing table and the walk-in closet, but here you will also find a comfortable chair with ottoman and a well lit vanity with more drawers, has a soft chair for your comfort.  An armoire set into the wall holds a 19" television and drawers beneath it.

The suite bathroom is much like that found in lower category staterooms in that it is a split bath.  A door connects the two sections of this beautifully tiled bathroom.  The elegant vanity of gold marble has dark mahogany drawers beneath and toiletries are available for guests who need them.  The second bathroom is very similar, and also features a Jacuzzi and a double vanity.

The main sitting area features a luxurious entertainment center encased in the wall that holds a 25" television with a Bose surround sound system.  A 5 disc CD player, Sony Hi-Fi stereo and VCR.  A lovely soft gray sofa converts into a bed for 2 more guests.  Two cozy chairs, end tables and a coffee table complete with Disney publications, complete this area, perfect for socializing.  Display cases contain accent pieces themed to the sea such as glass dolphins and iron fish.  Beach scenes adorn the walls.  The dining room area has a polished table with 6 chairs of patterned green surrounding it.  An entertainment station includes a wet bar, champagne, wine and water glasses and refrigerator.  A wall mirror and deco light fixtures complete the splendor of this magnificent stateroom.

Spectacular sunsets can be viewed from the large balcony area.  Accessible from the dining room, living room and bedroom, 2 chaise lounges, 2 chairs and 2 small round tables are available for your relaxation.

Spacious and cozy, the two bedroom suite offers a distinguished, yet comfortable option for those who desire privacy combined with luxury for their Disney Cruise.

A small dining area includes a table with 3 chairs and a lovely credenza with fresh flowers to add that homey touch.  For entertaining, a wet bar with a small refrigerator is available.

The seating in the living room offers a cozy area in which to chat, relax or watch the 26” television.  A VCR and CD player complete the entertainment center and CDs and videos are available from your concierge.  In the corner display case with knick-knacks, you will find a cabinet underneath that contains board games.  The convertible sofa sleeps 2 and is flanked by 2 matching chairs, end tables with lamps and a coffee table in front.  Note that if this is a suite with a pull down bed, you may find it here in the living room or in the bedroom.

Categories 4,5,6 and 7

Category 4,5A category 4 stateroom is known as a "Deluxe Family Stateroom " and can accommodate up to 5. The only difference between a category 4 stateroom and a category 5 is about 30 square feet at the end of the cabin, just before the verandah.  In this extra space is a twin murphy bed that pulls down from the wall.  When you view our video for the Category 4 stateroom, you'll notice a red chair at the far end of the stateroom.  That is where the murphy bed is located, and it where the differences between Cat 4 and Cat 5 and 6 end.  This is a good choice for families that need to sleep up to 5 people (a Category 5/6/7 stateroom will sleep 3, with some sleeping 4).  The description that follows applies to all Category 4,5,6 and 7 staterooms except where noted.

Category 4,5As you enter the stateroom, there are two doors to your right, the first is a bathroom with a sink, vanity and toilet, while the second has a shower/tub and sink so that more than one family member can get ready at a time. The first bathroom is enclosed in white tile with a border of navy and navy-trimmed periwinkle triangles around it. The vanity has a faux inlaid wood design around it. There is a glass shelf with a "lip" to hold your toiletries (which you will find to be useful when the ship is listing). Above it is a porthole-style mirror with lots of good lighting. Each stateroom has a hair dryer on the wall. There are storage shelves and a garbage can below the vanity too. On the opposite wall in the corner is a unit with 3 shelves for toiletries, Kleenex etc. and the towel rack is beside it. The white tile floor has a royal blue design.

The second bathroom area is decorated much the same but on the vanity there are two large packets of body lotion and shampoo. The shower has a white liner covered with a white and navy designed curtain, held back by a heavy rope, very nautical looking. The carpet in the stateroom is beige with taupe triangles trimmed with navy rope, while the walls were beige with a taupe fleck throughout. There are 3 pictures on the walls around the room, one a whimsical cartoon like cruise ship picture, a second a Marc Davis "Pirates of the Caribbean" pirate sketch and the third, a sentimental favorite, Walt and Lillian Disney on a ship. On the left as you enter the room is a good-sized closet. Your life vests are found in here and you will need them for the mandatory safety drill that is held at 4:00 on embarkation day. There is also a ladder for the Murphy bed, a decent sized safe (locked and unlocked using Key to the World card) and lots of room to hang your clothes! There is even velcro at the edge of the closet doors to keep them closed if the ship lists.

Beside the closet is a drawer unit with 2 large and 2 smaller drawers. On top you may find a selection of sodas and water that are available to purchase and an ice bucket that your stateroom host/hostess replenishes twice a day. Beside this unit is another storage unit that resembled a large blue steamer trunk and has 3 shelves inside. Across from the storage, the queen-sized bed is covered with a dusky blue nautically-themed bedspread (check out the hidden Mickeys!) and 3 pillows. There is a nightstand on either side with lamps (cute nautical shades on them) and the phone. Just a note here, a ship to shore call is $6.95 a minute. A privacy curtain, held back by a rope, separates this sleeping area from the "second" area of the stateroom. This includes a desk with lots of drawers and cupboards for more storage, a stool for sitting at the desk, a coffee table, and futon-like sofa. This really wasn't a conventional futon, just pull down the back of the sofa and your bed is made. In some staterooms, a Murphy bed can be pulled from the ceiling to sleep a fourth passenger. Approximately 44% of the staterooms of the Disney Cruise ships are fitted with a balcony, which is unheard of on most cruise ships. Across the balcony doors, a sheer curtain of pale gray diamond shapes was topped with dove gray curtains that you could pull across. The door to the balcony was tricky to open, you had to release the top lock, pull the handle down and then pull to the side to open. It is worth the trouble! This balcony offers a spectacular view! It is very spacious with 2 chairs and a small table.

Category 7 Staterooms feature what is known as a "Navigators Verandah".  These verandah's are the same size as those found in Category 5/6 staterooms, with the exception of being more enclosed.  Rather than a full open air balcony, you have a large porthole (very large) to look out on to the ocean.  You can see video of the Navigators Verandah by selecting the Cat 7 Stateroom Tour video link on the sidebar.

Category 8,9 & 10

A category 8 with a porthole viewWhile these three categories offer virtually identical rooms, there is one important difference.  The Category 8 and 9 rooms are considered deluxe outside staterooms (meaning they have a porthole window), where the category 10 stateroom is considered a deluxe inside stateroom. At 214 sq. ft., these staterooms sleep 3 (with some sleeping 4) and they are among the first categories to book on the ship, as the price on these staterooms is very competitive.  Each room contains one queen bed (or two twin beds) a single convertible sofa, and a split-bathroom design.  Category 8 staterooms are located on decks 5,6 and 7.  Category 9 & 10 staterooms are on decks 1 & 2, with some category 10 staterooms on decks 5 and 7.

Category 11 & 12

These categories represent the lowest priced staterooms on the ship.  At 184 sq. ft., they are also the smallest staterooms.  Besides size, the major difference between this category and other categories on this ship lies in the fact that these staterooms do not have the split-bathroom design of the others.  These cabins sleep 3 (with some sleeping 4), and have a queen-size bed (or two twins) and a single convertible sofa.
