New Changes to Virtual Queue Procedures at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Walt Disney World

As guests continue to enjoy the newest attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, there is an update from Disney as to how the virtual queue will work moving forward.

The way the virtual queue has been working since the attraction’s opening is that guests have been able to join a boarding group as soon as they were inside the park. Typically, the boarding group would be several hours later giving folks free time to wander around the park or even go back to their hotel rooms in some cases.

The virtual queue will continue to be available at the published park opening time, but guests will be given a distinct window of time of either one or two hours to return through the My Disney Experience app.

Backup boarding groups will continue to be given out once the initial groups have been filled. The backup boarding groups will be called after all of the initial boarding groups and only if there is capacity for more riders that evening. If the attraction can accommodate the backup boarding groups that evening, guests will receive a notification in the My Disney Experience app.
