Walt Disney World has announced a pricing increase and a move to a seasonal pricing model for their one-day tickets.
Pricing for a one-day ticket now ranges from $105-$124, depending on the time of year. There are Value, Regular, and Peak Seasons, as well as blockout dates for the Regular and Value seasons. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Value season is about a fifth of the year, Regular is about half the year, and Peak is about 29 percent of the year.
Guests will have access to an online calendar showing pricing between 8-11 months ahead of time.
Jacquee Wahler, Disney spokeswoman, said, “The demand for our theme parks continues to grow, particularly during peak periods. In addition to expanding our parks, we are adopting seasonal pricing on our one-day ticket to help better spread visitation throughout the year. Multi-day tickets, annual passes and visiting during non-peak periods also provide our guests with options and savings.”
This seasonal pricing structure has been used in other areas of the travel industry, such as hotels and airlines, for years.
