Hooray for the Hollywood Studios Hot Dogs You Need to Try

Walt Disney World has plenty of options for hot dogs, like Casey’s Corner in the Magic Kingdom and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, but we did not expect Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the same line-up!

Dockside Diner looks like an old steam boat and is quite literally docked at Echo Lake near the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. This walk-up quick-service location offers a somewhat limited menu and outdoor seating but was packed on the day we visited. The menu consists of three specialty hot dogs, a plain hot dog option, house-made chips, and seasonal milkshakes.

We decided to order each of the specialty hot dogs and were very pleasantly surprised by two of them!

Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Hotdogall-beef quarter-pound hot dog topped with savory macaroni and cheese, crispy Applewood bacon, and drizzled with mustard aioli on a brioche butter bun and served with house-made chips for $12.79.

The hot dog alone was just as good as the ones at Casey’s Corner and the mac and cheese could have also been a stand-alone side. I was also very happy to see a decent amount of crispy, real bacon – not the flimsy Disney bacon we sometimes see at quick-service restaurants. Our only note was the mustard aioli was likely just yellow mustard and the bun, while good, likely wasn’t brioche. This is one I would get again!

Each hot dog comes with a side of house-made chips that, despite the humidity, were super crisp and fresh.

Pretzel Dogall-beef quarter-pound hot dog topped with apple-braised sauerkraut and onions and drizzled with mustard aioli on pretzel bread and served with house-made chips for $12.79.

This was definitely the weakest of the three hot dogs. The pretzel bun was too much bread and made it hard to eat. We also didn’t love the overly sweet apple-braised sauerkraut and thought regular sauerkraut would have been a better call. We’ll pass on this one next time!

California BLTA Dogall-beef quarter-pound hot dog topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado, crispy Applewood bacon, house-made black pepper mayonnaise and drizzled with mustard aioli on a brioche butter bun and served with house-made chips for $12.79.

This was the clear winner of our lunch and we will back for the BLTA hot dog soon! With all of these hot dogs, the majority of the toppings were layered below the dog, making it much easier to eat. There was plenty of fresh avocado which complimented the creaminess from the black pepper mayo; while the bacon and lettuce gave it a little crunch. This may seem like too much going on for a hot dog but we thought the flavor was pretty incredible!

We each treated ourselves to a side of Cheese Dipping Sauce for $1 each. If you know me, you know I’m going to order a side of the cheese sauce anywhere it’s offered at Disney! R.I.P. unlimited hot vats of cheese at Casey’s Corner. The melty cheese with the salty potato chips was obviously a winning combination.

We didn’t expect to enjoy the food at Dockside Diner as much as we did and also had a great time while eating there! Be sure to watch our full review and plenty of silliness from the team, here!
