Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Will NOT Be Happening This Year

Disney has confirmed the annual Gingerbread House display at the Grand Floridian Resort will not be happening this holiday season, due to the ongoing lobby refurbishment project including new carpeting, furniture, and a lobby bar.

The Grand’s lobby renovation project is scheduled to happen from April through November, impacting the resort’s usual holiday decorations.

For 25 years, the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House has drawn visitors eager to see the intricate, life-sized creation and indulge in seasonal treats. While the Grand Floridian display won’t be available this year, guests can still enjoy the beloved gingerbread displays at other Walt Disney World resorts as usual.

Will the Gingerbread House Return?

While Disney has said the Gingerbread House won’t be returning this holiday season, we can’t help but wonder if this long-running tradition has come to an end, for good. The Grand’s lobby update has sparked some controversy online, questioning the addition of a lobby bar and if there will still be enough room for holiday decor the resort is known for.

Fans are questioning Disney for adding a bar in the middle of the elegant and peaceful lobby when the Enchanted Rose is up just one level, while others question if there is enough room for the Christmas tree and gingerbread house together after the project is completed. Will they just remove most of the lobby furniture, or was 2024 the last year we enjoyed both of those iconic holiday decorations at the Grand?

What do you think? The Gingerbread House draws the crowds over to the resort each holiday season, and we’ll certainly miss the life-size, sweet-smelling display this year. Hopefully it makes its grand return alongside the towering Christmas tree in 2026!
