The New Stories of Hollywood Studios: 8 Countdown Disney Movies

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is all about the magic of movies, so it only makes sense to prepare with some cinematic fun before your visit. The countdown to your trip is the perfect excuse to plan family movie nights that spotlight the franchises and stories that come alive in the park. With these films fresh in your mind, every ride, show, and meet-and-greet will feel like stepping straight onto the set.

Star Wars

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the home of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where the world of Star Wars comes to life. Enjoy themed food and beverages, two attractions, and scenery that feels otherworldly. Roaming characters make the area even more enjoyable, and being able to spot and recognize them in the masses definitely helps! Choose your favorite old and new Star Wars story for movie night and reacquaint yourself with a world far, far away. Don’t miss the Disney classic attractions Star Tours for an extra dose of Star Wars magic.

Toy Story

Another immersive, themed land for guests who love Toy Story. The Toy Story Land area of the park has themed dining, three attractions, and more atmosphere than you can fully understand without seeing it for yourself. The Toy Story movies are a must-watch for family movie night if you will be visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

The Muppets

Even though Muppet*Vision 3D has now closed, there will soon be a new opportunity for fans to connect with their favorite Jim Henson creations. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will soon be reopened in 2026 with a new Muppets theme! If you are planning a 2026 visit, add your favorite Muppets movie or show to your watch list and be ready for the unveiling.

The Little Mermaid

If you are your own little mermaid, looking for a musical attraction to make your heart whole, don’t miss the newly opened The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. Know your storyline and songs in advance by revisiting the animated Disney classic, The Little Mermaid, that changed how many of us felt about life under the sea!

Indiana Jones

If you love a good dose of action, don’t miss the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! The show is fantastic to watch when you’ve just seen the movies, as the stunt experts recreate live-action stunts in front of you for a thrilling show you won’t forget.

Fantasmia

If you are planning on enjoying the Fantasmic! presentation while you’re visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you might want a little context to go with it. While the show is spectacular on its own, it shares its concept with a scene in Fantasia that can be helpful to see in advance.

The Twilight Zone

Older or more adventurous guests may like to enjoy The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, where old-Hollywood stories of mystery challenge your sense (and your stomach) on this Disney Parks thrill ride. The back story for this is one for us oldies, so I recommend educating your family with a showing of the movie or the TV show before you arrive to get the most out of this experience.

The Incredibles

While you won’t find a themed attraction for The Incredibles at Walt Disney World, we recommend showing the movie before striking a pose with your favorite superhero family at your Pixar Place Meet & Greet! That’s right, you can make friends with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, as well as Frozone, right here in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

I’ll add in an honorable mention to this one for your favorite Disney Junior shows, as some of those characters and experiences are on offer in this park as well! If you have a favorite movie that relates to the stories of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, add it to the comments below and help your fellow DIS community prepare for their upcoming adventure!
