EPCOT, We Need to Talk About WALL-E and EVE

If you’ve ever parked at EPCOT, you’ve probably noticed the irony: WALL-E and EVE have their names on the parking lot… and basically nowhere else in the park. For characters that feel so EPCOT, their lack of a real presence inside the gates has always been a little strange.

They’re also kind of in their own category. WALL-E and EVE are the only major characters represented at EPCOT without a permanent attraction tied to them. No ride, no show, no dedicated space. And no, I’m not counting the occasional festival playground or temporary décor from years past.

What makes it more noticeable is how clearly the parking lot names connect to what’s actually in the park. EPCOT’s lots are split into Earth and Space, and most of the characters line up perfectly.

Dory and Crush clearly point to The Seas with Nemo & Friends. Moana and HeiHei connect directly to Journey of Water. Over on the Space side, Gamora and Rocket are obvious Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind representation.

Then there’s WALL-E and EVE, also parked under Space… with nothing inside EPCOT that belongs to them.

They’ve shown up briefly over the years. During Festival of the Arts, WALL-E and EVE are added to the pearly pink exterior wall of Mission: Space, which honestly feels right at home.

There’s also the big “what could have been” with the Play Pavilion. The former Wonders of Life building was supposed to become a character-focused interactive space, and WALL-E and EVE would’ve fit that concept perfectly. Just imagine a walk-around robotic Wall-E character roaming the pavilion! That project was quietly shelved, and with it, another potential home for the pair disappeared.

— Wonders of Life as it stands today. In a [Disney] world where EPCOT’s “transformation” has been deemed complete, we still have a massive empty building in old Future World.

And that’s what makes their absence so odd. WALL-E checks every EPCOT box: environmental themes, technology, space, the future of humanity. It’s not hard to imagine a slow-moving dark ride through space, deserted Earth, or aboard the Axiom, especially in the old Wonders of Life footprint. It feels like a no-brainer that just… never happened.

Interestingly, WALL-E and EVE aren’t completely off Disney’s radar. They’re set to host an upcoming Disney/Pixar musical debuting on the Disney Adventure cruise ship. Early concept art also shows Coco featured heavily, which could help address that film’s long-discussed lack of a presence in EPCOT’s Mexico pavilion… if the show ever opens stateside.

For now, WALL-E and EVE remain one of EPCOT’s biggest question marks… honored in the parking lot, still waiting for something permanent. Would you like to see a WALL-E attraction at EPCOT?
