Hearthstone Lounge Offers a Great Meal and Respite at Disneyland Resort

The Hearthstone Lounge is located off the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and serves a full menu including shareable appetizers and a full-service bar with a wide-range of options. Generally the Hearthstone Lounge opens for lunch and closes late making it the perfect place for a meal or a nightcap.

You don’t have to be staying at the Grand Californian to enjoy Hearthstone. Since it’s a quick walk from either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure, it’s a great option to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful meal or cocktail. You can often find last-minute availability and seating making it perfect for a spur of the moment theme park break.

Setting

The atmosphere of Hearthstone matches the Craftsman style of the Grand Californian Lobby with the addition of natural lighting and cozy lounge seating. You can make an advanced reservation or join the walk-up list in the Disneyland app or there is a walk-up option to grab a beverage to enjoy inside the Grand Californian.

The bar at Hearthstone is quite impressive with a long list of California wines and beers on draft plus an extensive offering of liquors and signature cocktails.

The lighting in the lounge changes drastically throughout the day, due to the large windows. You’ll find Hearthstone to bright and warm during the day and dark and cozy in the evening. Reservations include regular tables, booth seating, and lounge areas with plush sofas.

A great option for anyone looking to take a break is to grab a beverage from the walk-up bar and enjoy it just steps away at the Grand Californian’s fireplace. You can recharge by the glow of the fireplace, in a comfortable rocking chair.

The menu at Hearthstone is the same for lunch, dinner, or late night. The menu ranges from sandwiches, salads, and pizzas, to sea bass, prime rib, and lasagna. There really is something for everyone and a great place to share items.

Drinks

Japanese Sour – Sekk Sato Shiki Single Grain Whisky, Domaine Cantone Ginger Liqueur, honey, egg white, Serrano chili, lemon juice – $23

This is a fun take on a whisky sour that is interesting without being off-putting. The egg white adds a nice foam and the ginger pairs well with the bright lemon. The whisky and chili bring a nice warmth to the drink but don’t worry, it’s not too spicy!

Royal Petal – Empress 1908 Gin, Meletti Limoncello, lemon juice, lavender – $18.75

All of the ingredients really come through in this light cocktail. It tastes like a sophisticated lavender lemonade and would be delightful sitting at the outdoor terrace.

Entrees

Hearthstone Cobb Salad – leaf lettuce, arugula, cider-glazed bacon, Point Reyes blue cheese, avocado, cherry tomatoes, radishes, soft-boiled egg, artichoke, red onions, and creamy apple vinaigrette – $21

  • Add chicken – $12, salmon – $12, or steak $16

We opted not to add any additional protein and this salad was still incredibly filling! It’s a unique take on a Cobb salad you might find back home and has a nice tang from the light creamy apple vinaigrette. The Hearthstone Cobb Salad can easily be shared with two people and is one I would look forward to ordering again!

Hearthstone Burger – Sonoma white cheddar, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon-shallot jam, and chimichurri aioli on a buttered brioche bun served with fries – $29

The Hearthstone Burger is everything you want it to be – cooked perfectly with a smoky flavor from the bacon-shallot jam. The chimichurri aioli is creamy and plentiful and really helps to bind the burger together. The portion size is also large and was perfect split with the Hearthstone Cobb Salad. Plus, the fries were crispy and well seasoned.

Dessert

Cookie Butter Creme Brûlée – vanilla creme brûlée, Chantilly cream, and topped with a cookie butter biscotti – $15

We had heard great things about the Cookie Butter Creme Brûlée and it sounded delicious. Unfortunately, it fell short for us. The vanilla was very understated and while the cookie butter biscotti was tasty, we wish the creme brûlée had also been cooking butter flavored. While not a bad a dessert, we thought it would be more exciting than it actually is!

The dining options at the Grand Californian are all so great and offer a nice range of options from character meals like Storytellers Cafe, fine dining like Napa Rose, lounges like Hearthstone, and an incredible quick service like Craftsman Grill.
