Disney+ is adding another live event to its growing lineup, one that leans heavily into entertainment.
Disney announced during its 2026 Upfront that Disney+ will become the exclusive streaming home of the Banana Bowl in the United States, with the championship game set to stream live this October. The event features the top teams from the Banana Ball league competing for the season title.
In case you’re not familiar, Banana Ball is not traditional baseball. The Savannah Bananas have built a following by combining actual gameplay with over-the-top entertainment (remember the Harlem Globetrotters?). Think choreographed dances, fan interaction, and nonstop energy from first pitch to final out. The Banana Bowl is expected to kick that up a notch, with all six teams involved and what Disney is calling one of the league’s biggest productions yet.
This move is part of a much larger partnership between Disney and the Savannah Bananas that’s been expanding throughout 2026.
The team is also heading to “Dancing with the Stars” this fall, with player Jackson Olson set to compete when the new season airs across ABC and Disney+. On the sports side, ESPN and Disney+ already launched a 25-game package this year, giving fans multiple ways to watch Banana Ball live, including select games on ABC.
The collaboration hasn’t stayed on screens, either. Earlier this year, the Savannah Bananas brought their high-energy style to Disneyland Resort during a special “Savannah Bananas Day,” and they’re continuing that momentum with appearances tied to Walt Disney World and ESPN events throughout the summer.
All of it points to the same thing. Disney sees Banana Ball as more than a novelty. It’s a different kind of sports experience, and it’s clearly finding an audience.
Streaming the Banana Bowl exclusively on Disney+ is the next step in that push.
