Hey there, Disney friends! Now, I know we usually do our behind-the-scenes deep dives on a Sunday, but I simply couldn’t wait any longer to share this one with you. The Disney Parks are evolving on a daily basis, and there is literally never a time when an exciting new project isn’t somewhere on the horizon. It feels like the perfect continuation of Walt Disney’s original idea that the parks would never truly be finished. The creative minds at Walt Disney Imagineering are always dreaming up new ways to surprise us, create something we haven’t seen before, and keep that Disney magic moving forward.
While I absolutely love the big reveals and those first glimpses at what’s coming next, I have a real soft spot for the behind-the-scenes magic that brings those beautifully drawn dreams to life. There are so many talented people involved in taking an idea from a sketch, model or concept and turning it into something we can actually walk through, experience and enjoy. That is why I love getting a closer look at all those little details involved in the journey.
Disney Parks has recently given us another peek behind the curtain, with a look at the pixie-dusted work taking place across the parks. We’re getting updates on Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge at Walt Disney World, the reimagining of Animation Courtyard and the new Magic of Disney Animation experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as exciting pathway and expansion work at Disney California Adventure. From resort design and immersive storytelling to the infrastructure that helps make future experiences possible, there is so much happening behind the scenes.
And to be honest, this is the part of Disney Parks development that I could watch for hours, and why I love projects like Leslie Iwerks‘ The Imagineering Story. We get so excited when a new attraction or experience is announced, but seeing the people, planning, creativity, and craftsmanship that make those announcements possible gives us a completely different appreciation for what we eventually experience as guests.
Disney magic might feel effortless when we’re standing in the parks, but there is an enormous amount of imagination, engineering, and hard work happening behind the scenes. So grab a drink, settle in, and come with me as we get a quick update on some of the latest Disney projects and all the little details that are helping bring the next chapter of the parks to life. Because if there is one thing we know about Disney, the magic is always being made!
