Disney Cruise Line has changed the ports for some of their current and upcoming sailings. On the 14-night Westbound Panama Canal cruise that left Miami May 1, the Disney Wonder was scheduled to visit Puerto Vallarta on May 12. Instead, the ship spent the day at sea after receiving reports of violence between gangs and police in the area, including warnings from the U.S. Embassy. Guests were notified of this change with a letter in their stateroom. Any Port Adventures that had been booked were automatically refunded, as well as any Government Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses.
European itineraries on the Disney Magic will not be visiting Reykjavic, Iceland and St. John’s (Newfoundland), Canada for the time being. Excessive amounts of ice have been reported around St. John’s, so that port will be skipped and replaced with Halifax, Canada. Due to the length of time needed to sail around, Reykjavik will be replaced with Stavanger, Norway. As with the Puerto Vallarta change, any Port Adventure fees associated with these ports will be refunded to guests and new reservations can be made.
It is unclear exactly how long any of these changes will remain in place.
