SeaWorld Entertainment cuts 320 jobs

320 jobs were eliminated by SeaWorld Entertainment on Tuesday, December 6. These jobs came from all 12 of the company’s theme parks and corporate headquarters in Orlando and equal about 3 percent of the company. The restructuring was described by a company spokeswoman as “a combination of layoffs and elimination of vacant positions”, but a SeaWorld Entertainment cuts 320 jobs





Disney’s Aulani Resort to offer special experiences for the holidays

To celebrate the holidays, Aulani is offering a few special experiences for their guests: Mickey Mouse and friends will be dressed in their holiday best for meet and greets and photo ops. Holiday movies will be shown on a big screen on the Halawai lawn. Updates to Star Wars experiences announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Disney Parks Blog hosted an after-hours event tonight that was all about the upcoming Star Wars film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Guests gathered at Epcot after the park closed and were treated to clips from the film, appearances by Michael Roddy (show director) and Mads Mikkelsen (plays Galen Erso in the film), Updates to Star Wars experiences announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios





Refurbishment planned for Wedding Pavilion and Convention Center at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Several areas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be closed for refurb over the next month. The Convention Center and its parking lot, plus the Wedding Pavilion, will be closed December 12-January 1. Due to possible construction noise, all work will take place during the day. Walt Disney World to film aerial footage with helicopter Dec. 4

Walt Disney World will be using a helicopter to film aerial video footage over the Resort from late on Sunday, December 4 through early morning Monday, December 5. Guests may hear the noise over Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney Springs from 8:00pm December 4-9:00am December 5.  The helicopter will be flying at low altitudes and Walt Disney World to film aerial footage with helicopter Dec. 4





Disney to live stream event where Spaceship Earth transforms into Death Star

Earlier today, Disney announced a meet-up after hours event at Epcot at which Spaceship Earth will be transformed into the Death Star to celebrate the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That event filled to capacity quickly, but the Disney Parks Blog has just announced that the event will be live streamed for Disney to live stream event where Spaceship Earth transforms into Death Star

Disney’s Moana takes first at the box office on Black Friday

According to Forbes, Disney’s latest animated feature, Moana, earned just under $22 million on Black Friday. The film, which currently has an ‘A’ on Cinemascore and a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, will most likely also win the weekend box office competition. The article predicts the movie will earn between $80-90 million for the Wednesday to Disney’s Moana takes first at the box office on Black Friday
