Every fan has a favorite Disneyland hack that had to be removed and is unlikely to return. Recently, the Disneyland Monorail reopened with an old secret that will change everything!
What is the Disneyland Monorail?
The Disneyland Monorail is a 2.5-mile tour around the Disneyland Resort, making it a 13-minute round trip. Many guests use it as a quicker mode of transportation in and out of the park. It is less extensive than the Walt Disney World Monorail system, with only two stations–Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney. That doesn’t make it any less beloved. Disneyland fans felt the sting of its closure that began on August 12, 2024. However, when it reopened on September 13, 2024, it was redeemed with a new (well, new *again*) secret experience. Guests were thrilled!
History of the Secret Monorail Hack
Years ago, guests could ride in the front (the “nose”) of the Disneyland Monorail with the pilot. All they had to do was ask. Depending on the circumstances, they could get to experience an exclusive behind-the-scenes trip. Not only did it give these guests a special 360-degree view of the track and park around it, but they also got to listen to the pilot make announcements to the rest of the passengers…AND listen to their communication with the monorail pilots. It was a not-so-secret hack that so many Disneyland fans always dreamed of doing.
The last time anybody got to experience it, though, was in 2020 before Disneyland’s thirteen-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even after the park reopened to guests, the nose of the monorail was not. That is, until now!
Welcome back, Disneyland Monorail Secret!
As of its reopening a few days ago, Disneyland guests can now ask to ride in the nose of the monorail with the pilot. Like always, it depends on the circumstances. So, how will you know if they’re allowing it on the monorail you’re about to board? Don’t worry, Imagineers made another not-so-secret code! If you look at the front of the monorail, there’s a decal to the top right corner next to the door. When there is a picture of the monorail on the decal, then you are good to ask to sit with the pilot! However, it says “DNL,” then they are not allowing guests in the front of the monorail at that time.
Having been the first monorail in America, The Disneyland Monorail is historical in its own right. Now, it has made history once again!
