New Destination Details & Updated Engineer Role on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run launches a brand-new storyline on May 22, 2026, at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, alongside the theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu. This time, Din Djarin and Grogu are along for the ride! Hondo Ohnaka has caught wind of a shady deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a ruthless band of pirates, and he wants a cut. Your crew takes the controls of the Millennium Falcon, joins forces with Mando and Grogu, and blasts off in pursuit of the bounties.

We’ve been staring at the above concept art for many months now, and that opening day is almost here. Disney has just shared some new tips on the updated roles and mission details from inside the cockpit. From the coveted Pilot, to the Gunner’s first-timer or advanced settings, and a plussed-up Engineer, here’s what every role looks like and what to expect!

Fair warning: while this info was posted by Disney Parks Blog, if you’re looking to avoid new mission spoilers until you ride it yourself, I wouldn’t read any further!

Pilots

Two pilots share the cockpit, and the fate of the Falcon is in your hands! Every obstacle you hit costs credits, and Hondo is not forgiving about a banged-up ship. If you’ve flown the Falcon before, there are no changes here.

  • The left pilot controls side-to-side movement with a boost button ready for close calls.
  • The right pilot handles altitude and punches the ship into hyperspace.

Gunners

Gunners are the crew’s first line of defense, and keeping the Falcon in one piece falls heavily on them. Before launch, you can choose your mode: automatic or manual.

Quick Tips:

  • For first-time crew members, automatic mode lends itself to an easier experience. For seasoned smugglers, choose manual mode for a rush of fast-paced competition.
  • If playing in automatic mode, make sure to keep pressing your primary button to fire in bursts of five on enemy ships.
  • If playing in manual mode, use the three buttons to aim high, middle, and low.
  • Throughout the mission, missiles will be available at select times that allow gunners to fire five simultaneous missiles that spiral to hit a nearby target, if timed correctly.

Engineers

Engineers received the biggest upgrade in this new storyline, with more to do than ever before. The two engineers in the back row are responsible for:

  • Picking the planet: one engineer chooses where the crew jumps next (Bespin, Coruscant, or the second Death Star above Endor) by locking onto a homing beacon after the Tatooine chase.
  • Launching homing beacons: the other engineer tags the bounty ships before the jump.
  • Collecting cargo: use the tractor beam to pull in up to three crates each (six total). A button lights up and an alert fires when cargo is within range.
  • Repairing the ship: when damage hits, illuminated buttons appear. Hit them fast to keep things running.
  • Calling Grogu: there’s now a dedicated button to check in on Grogu in the Razor Crest. You’ll definitely want to use it!

The Three Destinations

Bespin: The chase tears through the open skies of Cloud City after an Imperial officer in a Zeta-class Shuttle. TIE fighters swarm from every direction, and massive Tibanna gas canisters make for a highly destructible environment where one wrong move can hurt.

Coruscant: A nighttime pursuit through the glittering Uscru Entertainment District, weaving through dense civilian traffic, diving into tunnels, and dodging TIE fire under a blazing city skyline. The mission can take a sharp turn mid-chase, demanding the crew reboot key systems while keeping the Falcon from falling apart.

Second Death Star (Endor): Disney says this is the most intense of the three. Deep in the debris field above Endor’s forest moon, a Trandoshan pirate is hiding among the wreckage of the second Death Star. Navigation is tight, the environment is treacherous, and at any moment gunners may be called on to fire a perfectly-timed torpedo to pull Mando and Grogu out of a rogue tractor beam.

End of the Mission

Back on Batuu, Hondo opens the crates and the results roll in… Depending on what your engineers hauled in, you might find galactic credits, Kyber Crystals, or even baby Rancors! Each of these are worth different amounts toward your cabin score. Stack that with individual performance scores and you’ve got a leaderboard worth fighting for. Plus, the top scorer earns “Employee of the Month” bragging rights.

No two runs play out the same way. The destination, the cargo, and the chaos all changes… which is a great excuse to fly again and again!
